The Skycaddie SG3 is a really good GPS that is easy to use, easy to read and has the backing of a reliable company.  If you decide that you want a Skycaddie SG3 you will be very happy with your choice.
The Skycaddie SG3 continues to be a very popular model and is highly recommended by existing users but is coming under increased pressure from other models in the "under $350.00" price range.

The Skycaddie SG3 is a very tidy and rugged model that has proved very popular since it's launch.
Courses are all mapped and retained by Skycaddie for members to download at their leisure.  Up to 10 courses can be stored in the unit itself - this seems  adequate for most golfers.  If you need another course it is a simple matter of downloading it to your unit.
Skycaddie have patented the Intelligreen technology which is their trademark feature.  With the Intelligreen technology you are provided with the shape and distances to any point on the green from any approach angle.  Useful for when you miss the fairway and need to know how far to the green from your current position and not just from a point on the fairway.  
The mapping is extremely detailed with all hazards, creeks and any other relevant targets Included. Distances to reach and carry hazards are given with up to 40 points per hole recorded.  
You are able to map up to 3 points on each green but you cannot map your own course and would need to request Skycaddie to do this for you.  This is to maintain uniformity with the mapping.
The Skycaddie SG3 makes for easy one handed operation.
The shot distance function is included and using it will enable you to learn exactly how far you hit each club in your bag.  The more you use this function the more proficient your golf will get as you become familiar with your own game, knowing exactly how far you hit each club.
Scoring and analyzing your game (fairways and greens in regulation and number of putts per round etc.) cannot be recorded on the Skycaddie SG3
The Skycaddie SG3 is small enough and light enough to be carried in your pocket or clipped on your belt.

There are three annual membership plans to choose from:

• The first of these is the Birdie Plan which costs $29.95 a year.  With the Birdie plan you have unlimited downloads to courses in your own state.
• The second and most popular plan is the Eagle Plan at $49.95 a year and this entitles you to unlimited downloads in your country.
• The third option is the Double Eagle plan at $59.95 a year and this gives you unlimited downloads for any courses in the world.

Using any good golf GPS is like having a  caddie with you all the time.  With the Skycaddie SG3 the detailed mapping and shot distance function will give you greater confidence when playing.  Knowing exactly how far it is to particular points on the course plus knowing exactly how far you hit each club in your bag removes any negative concerns you might normally have about under or over clubbing.
You will find within the first round that you play that you will score considerably better than normal and this trend will continue the more you use your Skycaddie SG3.  You will also find that you play a lot quicker and should easily be able to "keep up with the four-ball in front".

With its back light facility and the large 160 X 120 pixel screen the Skycaddie SG3 is easy to read in all lighting conditions.

The unit is powered by 2 AA batterys that will give you 12 hours of use.  Converted to rounds of golf that would be about 3 full rounds of 18 holes. The flexibility of the external battery source does men that you are able to carry spare batteries and never be caught short of power.

All Skycaddie models are very accurate for two reasons.
