iGolf Saturn GPS.
The iGolf research and development team have definitely been listening to the market and the introduction of the iGolf Saturn in the Spring of 2009 was perfectly timed. The iGolf Saturn has taken the color screen GPS market by the throat and made some bigger players sit up and think.
It's easy to see why:
The 2.17" color screen with a resolution
of 176 x 220 is a beauty and an absolute breeze to read. At only
3.85" X 2.15" x .75" and weighing only 4 ounces the iGolf Saturn is small enough to fit in your pocket without threatening to pull your trousers down.
When you get your iGolf Saturn you can use it straight out of the box - nothing to download and no software needed. Simply unpack it and head out to the course if you are planning to map your own course. If you want pre-mapped courses you will need to download these from the website and you will need to pay at least one annual subscription of $35.00. Note this subscription allows you to download as many course as you want in a year. Once you have downloaded the courses you need you can discontinue your annual subscription. The iGolf Saturn holds 100 courses so you should be good to go for a long time to come.
A nice little personal touch of the iGolf Saturn is the name of the owner and date displayed on the screen. A neat touch which couldn't have taken too much effort.
Besides the normal front, center and back of green distances the iGolf Saturn allows you to plot an additional 5 custom points. This is easy enough to do and is a great help - especially on your home course.
The iGolf Saturn has a shot distance facility and can keep scores and track statistics - something that more and more golfers are doing to find and improve on the weaknesses in their games.
The iGolf Saturn also gives a detailed shape and layout of the greens so you don't just have a round shape representing the green.
The built in lithium-ion battery will give you up to 16 hours of use.

The bad news:
There isn't any really except for MAC users as the iGolf Saturn is not yet MAC compatible. However we understand that iGolf are working on this and they should have it sorted out at some future date. Be sure to check it out first before discarding the iGolf Saturn as your choice of GPS.iGolf Triton GPS
Price: $199.99The difference between the color version and the iGolf Triton is negligible.
The iGolf Triton has a 120 x 160 gray scale screen (which is also very clear and easy to read) and the igolf Triton allows you to plot 6 additional points.
The iGolf Triton holds a lot less (yet sufficent) number of courses. 20 Courses can be stored on the unit at any one time with any additional courses having to be stored on a PC.
So for $100.00 less you get a very good quality gray scale screen and a unit that stores 20 courses. If you don't have or don't want to spend the extra money for the color version the iGolf Triton will do very nicely with no problems whatsoever.

Overview:
Because of its price,
functionality, accuracy and size this is one of our favorite Golf GPS
models.
Check with the thousands of new and existing owners who will attest to the incredible value for money that the iGolf Neo has to offer.
The iGolf Neo fits comfortably in your pocket and even being carried this way does not lose the signal.
Whether carting or walking the iGolf Neo is always available for instant use with no down time waiting for it to re-locate satellite signals.
Whilst the iGolf Neo does not have the ability to automatically select the next hole this is simply achieved by clicking the 'up' arrow once - not too difficult at all.
All in all a very easy to use Golf GPS that delivers on providing the golfer with the information you need to complete the hole in the least amount of strokes.
The iGolf Neo can be used anywhere in the world and is ideal for the frequent traveler.
The iGolf Neo includes the Shot Distance Function giving you exact yardages of how far you hit each club. The more you use this function the more familiar you will become with your own game - you will learn exactly what club you need for any distance.
Unfortunately the iGolf Neo cannot be used to keep score and is not able to keep statistics of fairways and greens in regulation or the number of putts per round.
Courses are downloaded from iPlay and stored in your iGolf Neo - which stores up to 10 courses - and on your PC. Once courses are downloaded you retain ownership of them - see details under annual membership and how it works below.

Distances to the front, center and back of the green are included and up to 4 different points can be mapped by the individual on each hole. No more running around looking for sprinkler heads with distances on them and then measuring off to your ball. Using a GPS is like having Steve Williams at your side all day.The iGolf Neo can be used anywhere in the world and is ideal for the frequent traveler.

How Does The Annual Membership Fee Work?
As for the two bigger models the annual membership fee
allows you to
download and map up to 100 courses during the year of membership.
Once you have downloaded courses they are stored on your own PC and they effectively "belong" to you. What this means is that you do not need to renew your annual membership to retain your courses or to use your iGolf Neo.
Further points (up to 4) can be added by you on each hole. This is an easy and very quick operation. And like all operations it can be done with one hand.

Is The Screen Easy To Read?
Although small the Neo's
screen has a
120x80 pixel resolution with a back light facility making it very easy
to read under any lighting conditions.
What Is The Power Source And How Long Does It Last?
The iGolf Neo is powered by
a built in
lithium battery which can be recharged either off your PC or directly
off a wall socket. At 16 hours of power the iGolf Neo has the
longest lasting battery of all the models I've reviewed. It
will
comfortably last for up to 3 rounds of golf even if you are a slow player.
How Accurate Is The iGolf Neo And Why?
With access to 20 satellite
signals the
iGolf Neo is incredibly accurate to within 1-3 yards. I have
yet
to find a golfer that feels this isn't accurate enough.
Model Specifications:
The iGolf Neo weighs an incredible 2.5 oz (so it won't pull your trousers down as you walk around) and measures 3.25" X 1.75" X 0.75".
