Golf Guru Reviews
Taking the guesswork out of golf!
Digi Caddie has undertaken extensive reviews of the two GPS models available from Golf Guru.
The Golf Guru range is one of the most popular and top selling brands. It's easy to see why when you compare the functionality of these extremely accurate models with the other models in the same or even higher rice bracket.
Talking of price - we have arranged an exclusive discount to the first 200 customers to purchase any of the Guru models through this website. This is exclusive to Digicaddie clients!

Golf Guru Price (before discount): $249.95
Golf Guru Color Price (before discount): $399.95
The two Guru models have identical
functions with the main difference between the two being the color
screen available on the latest model.
One other difference is that the Guru Color can hold up to 200 courses whilst the original Golf Guru holds 40.
We had previously reviewed the original gray scale Golf Guru and were fortunate enough to get our hands on the new Golf Guru Color version for this review. Typical of our previous experience with customer service nothing was too much to ask for.
Overview:
We'd like to start off by saying yet again that the customer service from Golf Guru is the best we have come across by a long way. All phone calls and e-mails have been answered promptly and any queries have been answered fully. All Guru owners attest to fantastic after sales service.
One of the nicest things about the Golf Guru range is the ease of use. Everything is clearly laid out on the screen and one handed operation is extremely simple.
Both models have built in back light facilities and with their high resolution are easy to read in any lighting conditions. For the technically minded the Golf Guru has a resolution of 160 x 128 pixels whilst the Golf Guru Color has the highest resolution amongst all the color golf GPS models available at 320 X240 pixels.
Scores and stats can be kept on the units and there is the ever useful shot distance - all of these functions are easy to use.
We found the detail on the course we played to be ample but you can map up to 30 points on a hole. This is very useful for those golfers who like as much detail as possible. mapping extra points took a few seconds.
Whilst on the subject of mapping it is worth mentioning the 'Smart Green' technology which allows you to move the pin around on the green so that you can get exact distances to the hole. Once we got to realize how valuable this option was we improved our course management as we noted pin positions on holes we had yet to play so that when we came to playing the hole we could take advantage of the 'Smart Green' technology.
The 'Smart Green' facility is also used to map green outlines and it only took a couple of minutes to do this even on the biggest greens. Distances to the various points on the green are automatically adjusted regardless of which direction you are approaching from. You will always know exactly how far you are to the front, back, center and pin even when you have strayed and are approaching from some place other than the fairway.
Like our previous review this test proved to us once again that the Golf Guru products are amongst the most accurate (if not the most accurate) golf GPS available. Distances were within a couple of feet.
There is no annual membership fee and all courses are downloaded for free. the current library consists of over 10,300 courses and is growing daily as more are added.
All in all we found both models to be absolutely brilliant and they deliver on all the promises. We highly recommend the Golf Guru to any golfer who wants a no nonsense unit that is rugged (the strongest in the business) good looking and does the job.
