The Golf Buddy range are proving to be more and more popular as time goes by. It's not surprising when you discover how much you get for your dollar with these ruggedly good looking models.
The models vary in price, memory size and physical dimensions.

Overview:
We found the ruggedly good looking Golf Buddy Pro very easy to use and comfortable to carry around. Like the other two models it fits nicely in the hand.
The large screen with the built in backlight facility made for easy reading under any lighting conditions - even for those of us with tired old eyes.
Our Golf Buddy Pro was ready to use as soon as we unpacked it, there was nothing to do except head out to the course which the unit located quickly enough. Within a couple of minutes we were on the first tee and the Golf Buddy Pro had located the hole and we were ready to go.
There are ample reference points available and we were able to add an additional 11 points per hole. This was far more than we needed but a very useful feature if you want to really include detail.
We found the unit to be extremely accurate in terms of distances given and would estimate accuracy to be within 2 yards. The remaining distances to target are updated as you progress and are available in yards or meters (this is in keeping with the international appeal of the Golf Buddy Pro with its multi lingual options and over 20,000 courses available from 26 countries). Together with the built in shot distance function this makes for easy club selection.
The dynamic green view is brilliant. The shape and distances to the green are updated as you approach regardless of where you approach from. You are always fully aware of the depth and width of the green from your angle of approach and not just from the fairway.
The Golf Buddy Pro comes with a lithium-polymer built in rechargeable battery and this can be backed up with 2 AAA batteries if it goes dead on you or if you have forgotten to charge it up. From past experience this is a pretty useful feature. At the end of our round of golf the battery was still fully charged despite us using it more often than you normally would with our testing.
Keeping score was easy and according to the manufacturer if you played every day and kept your scores it would take over 3 years to fill the memory. This is a great feature for looking back on past rounds.
We were lucky enough to test the Golf Buddy Pro on a beautiful day but we are reliably advised that the unit is water resistant and reliable even when raining.

We tested the Golf Buddy Plus alongside its bigger brothers and it has all the same capabilities and accuracy with the only difference being:
- It is smaller. Measuring 3.2 X 2.2 X 1 inch and weighs only three ounces. You are hardly aware of it even if you carry it in your pocket..
- 1,000 courses can be stored on the unit.
- The Golf Buddy Plus cannot run off an external power source. The built in lithium battery will give you over 10 hours of play.
- And of course it is a lot cheaper.

The Golf Buddy Tour is exactrly the same as the Golf Buddy Pro but it has a color screen. So if you want something that looks good, functions extremely well and will impress your friends then this is the model for you.
