The Callaway LR1200 is the most popular of the Callaway range with its incredible accuracy within the range that it would be used on a golf course - exactly what it was designed for.
Pros:
- Conforms to R&A and USGA rules - naturally coming from Callaway - and is allowed wherever local rules permit.
- Distances are given in either yards or meters.
- Uses what they call first target priority. Translated this means that it will pick up the closer target and give you an accurate reading. For example a pin in front of trees.
- Gives multiple distance readings. Simply depress and hold the button for up to 20 seconds whilst you take readings from a variety of objects.
- Three volt lithium battery is good for up to 10,000 depressions.
- Clear LCD display with back light.
- The eyepiece is set high in the rangefinder making it comfortable to use.
- Easy to aim and shoot.
- Waterproof.
- Only the price and then only because of what it is competing with.
The Callaway LR1200 is a comfortable user friendly rangefinder that does everything that is required of it. Designed specifically with golfers in mind you should be happy with your purchase.

- The shorter range. But still well within the distances needed on a golf course.
- Price because of competition.
A very good rangefinder from Nikon and Callaway designed for golfers by golfers with everything you will need in a rangefinder. 800 Yards is more than sufficient yardage and there is a bit a lot more change from $500.00 than there is from the bigger model.

Callaway
LR550 Laser RangefinderPrice: $299.95
Range: 550 Yards
Magnification: 6 X
Accuracy: To within 1 yard
The Callaway LR550 is a lightweight easy to handle rangefinder in a bright yellow color so its not going to get lost easily!
Pros:
- Uses what they call first target priority. Translated this means that it will pick up the closer target and give you an accurate reading. For example a pin in front of trees.
- Gives multiple distance readings. Simply depress and hold the button for up to 8 seconds whilst you take readings from a variety of objects.
- It has a high eyepiece for easy and comfortable use.
- Waterproof.
- Lightweight and easy to use.
- Unfortunately adverse weather conditions do negatively effect the display.
- The Callaway LR550 just feels and looks like the lower end of the market.
Whilst the price is more like what would expect the viewing quality lacks a little to our liking. Maybe we should have reviewed it before looking through some of the other rangefinders.
